Frequently Asked Questions
1. Q: How do I make my antlers wider?
Answer
Loosen the antler screws as much as you need to lay out your antlers to the desired width. The gap you will now see between the antlers and the upper portion of the pedicles is the amount of material you will need to remove from the lower portion of the pedicles (see image below).

2. Q: I have a real small set of antlers, can I make the pedicles smaller to fit my antlers?
Answer
Yes, follow the directions and mount your antlers normally. Take a pencil and draw a line around antler burr on top of each pedicle. Remove antlers and with a rat-tail file or dremel tool, remove plastic from pedicles slightly past your pencil marks. You will want antler burrs to overhang pedicles slightly for a natural look (see image below).

3. Q: Can I make the finish on my Skull Master or Record Keeper skull even flatter?
Answer
Absolutely, when you have completed mounting your antlers you can scuff the finish to dull or coat with a clear flat finish from the hardware store.
Scuff-Down Option
Use a Scotch-Brite pad or #220 grit sand papers to scuff down the entire skull and make it completely flat. For the Record Keeper make sure you allow the touch-up paint to fully cure overnight before scuffing or clear coating.
Flat Clear Coating Option
Go to your nearest hardware store and pick-up spray can of “Clear Flat Finish”.
I’ve used Krylon products and had nice results, but any should do well.
Follow the directions on the can and apply over entire skull.
4. Q: Do you plan on making other reproduction skulls?
Answer
Absolutely. Elk and Red Stag in both the Skull Master and Record Keeper models are new this year. Antelope and caribou kits will be coming as soon as possible.
5. Q: Where can I find the new Dipped Skull Master models?
Answer
We're proud to announce that our dipped skull kits are now available at Gander Mountain! You can order them online at Gander's website. You can also order them direct in our online store.
6. Q: I have seen people with your shirts, hats and truck window decals. Do you sell them and where?
Answer
Yes, our decals can now be purchased direct in our online store.
7. Q: Can I buy your antler mounting kits straight from you?
Answer
We currently sell our regular European mount kits only through our retailers. We do sell our camo-dipped kits directly from our online store.
Instructions for Use
The Bone Collector Record Keeper Instructions
Step 1: Cut along the line shown to remove the antlers and a portion of the skull plate.
Step 2: Fit the antler plate on the Record Keeper skull. Trim as needed to achieve an ideal fit. Attach with screws provided.
Step 3: Using the epoxy putty provided, blend the seam of the antler plate and Record Keeper.
Step 4: Paint the epoxied areas to match the rest of the Record Keeper.
